Thames Centre Community Choir Memorial Award

This award was established at Western University by the members and supporters of the Thames Centre Community Choir in memory of past choir members and loved ones. The award will be given each year to a Don Wright Faculty of Music voice student who has contributed significantly to a choir, and shows great promise in music.

Students often graduate with large debt loads. Our award will allow them to focus more on the music and less on the money. Thank you for your support!

For additional information, or to make a charitable donation, please contact Kim Malcolm at Western 519-661-2111 ext. 85695, or visit www.music.uwo.ca. Tax receipts will be provided for all donations.

Irina Medvedeva, 2014 Thames Centre Community Choir Memorial Award Recipient

Irina is completing her BMus Honours Performance
degree with Jackalyn Short at Western University, and is the inaugural Thames Centre Community Choir
Memorial Award Recipient.

Choir has been a part of Irina’s life for as long as she can remember. She was born in Russia, and moved to Canada when her mother got a job playing with the Symphony. Irina’s first `job’ was canting the 10am mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Thunder Bay, and singing at weddings and funerals. She has continued her involvement in choral music as a “choral scholar” at St. George’s Anglican Church, and has been a proud member of the Western University Singers for the past four years. She enjoys singing a wide variety of music and particularly enjoys performing in community concerts.
